International Coastal Cleanup

On September 20th 2008 the Site Captains from the National Planning Committee all set off early in the morning to their various assigned beaches throughout Trinidad. Finally the time had come for the International Coastal Cleanup event and after months of continuous planning, the NPC members were prepared to make the beach cleanup and data collection exercise a success in Trinidad and Tobago. Tobago’s cleanup took place one week later on Saturday 27th September 2008. Volunteers from all over Trinidad set of to one of the eight sites which included: Balandra Bay, Caura River, Chagville Beach, Las Cuevas Beach, Mayaro, Quinam, Salybia and Tyrico Beach. In Tobago the beaches included in the exercise were: Belle Garden Beach, Minister’s Bay, Bacolet, Plymouth Beach, Roxborough Beach and Speyside.
